I want to visit Canada, and I have a valid American visa; do I need a Canadian visa?
No. However, you must apply for an electronic travel authorization (AVE) before you fly to Canada. It costs $ 7 (CAD), and AVE comes out within minutes, most of the time. The same applies if you have had a Canadian visa in the last ten years.
How long can I stay in Canada as a tourist?
It is the immigration officer upon entering the country which determines the length of stay, but generally six months.
Can I study without having a study visa?
Yes, provided it is a short course (less than six months).
What are biometrics? When should I take?
Biometrics consists of taking the fingerprints and a photo of a face. It is now mandatory for foreigners wishing to apply for a visitor's visa, study or work permit (except US citizens) as well as a permanent residence and is valid for ten years. The Canadian government sends a notification to request biometrics.
Can I work and study in Canada?
Post-secondary study at a Canadian Government-designated educational institution (Colleges and Universities) allows the foreigner to work 20h / week and full-time during school holidays. Foreigners who want to go to Canada to study languages (ELS/FLS) are not allowed to work in Canada.
The accompanying spouse may apply for an open work permit. With this work permit, the spouse can work anywhere in Canada.
Following the post-secondary study, a foreigner may apply for a postgraduate work permit to gain work experience in Canada (PGWP). The duration of the PGWP is usually the same as the study program period the foreigner has completed.
I want to go to Ontario; do you provide advice for that province?
Yes. We have regulated consultants to guide you through federal and provincial immigration processes (except for Saskatchewan province).
I want to go to Quebec, but I don't speak French. Can I study and work in English?
Canada is a bilingual country, and there are English courses offered by Colleges and Universities in Quebec. However, if you intend to live permanently in Quebec, your work options are restricted without the knowledge of French and prevent you from participating in the Program de l'expérience québécoise (PEQ) and applying for the Certification de sélection du Québec and then permanent residence.
